A Dales based bike club has extended its activities to include night riding thanks to a £800 grant from the district council.
The Wensleydale Bike Club bought six sets of bike lights with the cash funded through the authority’s Upper Dales Area Partnership scheme. Based in Hawes, the club provides opportunities for children, young people and families to develop safe cycling skills, improve fitness and experience different cycling environments. However despite having trained night riding instructors it could not offer lights on the loan bikes – until this grant was awarded.
Richmondshire District Council’s five Area Partnerships, for the Upper Dales, Central (including Richmond), Lower Wensleydale, Garrison and North Richmondshire areas, each have £10,000 to award to local projects.
