Celebrating the Tour de Yorkshire at an event this weekend, Bruce Elsworth has curated a delicious, gourmet 5-course menu, showcasing dishes consisting of ingredients from fifteen local suppliers.
Bruce and Rebecca Elsworth, previous owners of successful Skipton restaurant ‘Elsworth Kitchen’, combined their experience to create the most unique, versatile, and beautiful events space in Skipton - Elsworth at The Mill. On Friday 5th July, they will be hosting a ‘Tour De Yorkshire’ Dinner Evening at Elsworth at The Mill, whereby Bruce has curated a delicious, gourmet 5-course menu, that embodies regional pride and celebration, showcasing dishes consisting of ingredients from fifteen local suppliers.
The husband and wife duo have harmoniously fused Bruce’s years of experience as an award-winning chef in some of the best kitchens, and Rebecca’s extensive experience in hospitality. This weekend they have stayed true to their Yorkshire roots, continuously supporting local suppliers.
Especially as Bruce grew up involved in farming, promoting small-scale farming and championing local produce is integral for Rebecca and Bruce, giving credit where it’s due to the high-quality ingredients we have around us, some just a stone’s throw away. Bruce’s first of the five courses encompasses three local suppliers’ ingredients, the ‘Yorkshire Native Breed Charcuterie’ commemorates ‘Grid Iron Meat’, a high-quality butchers in Skipton’s charcuterie, ‘Shepherd’s Purse’ award-winning Yorkshire Fettle, and a wonderful extra mature cheddar cheese from ‘Wensleydale Creamery’ up in Hawes, custodians of a 1000-year heritage who use milk from local family farms. The Elderflower Panna cotta dessert is sure to be a hit, deliciously creamy, served with clotted cream from ‘Stamfrey Farm’, with the fresh, fruity, floral elderflower flavour running through, with Yorkshire strawberries from ‘Deliciously British Strawberries’, and crunchy granola from ‘Yockenthwaite Farm’, this dish will be a sensational taste of Yorkshire.
Elsworth at The Mill doesn't stop at award-winning food, they have an extensive bar menu, with, of course, some Yorkshire favourites. Elsworth at The Mill will be serving bottled beer from ‘Dark Horse Brewery’ in Hetton, and cotton gin from the fabulous ‘Otterbeck Distillery’ on the banks of the River Aire.
Elsworth at The Mill is certainly toasting the tastes of Yorkshire in this celebratory event of delectable dishes and ingredients, extensive drinks options, and of course, always great company. Bruce says ‘being a Yorkshire lad and chef, I am so privileged to be able to work with some of the finest produce that God’s Own County has to offer, and this evening is all about the supplier, their story, and the products. 'While Bruce and Rebecca celebrate Yorkshire with regional pride, there are no limits to the diversity of their foodie events. From 'South East Asia Nights’, where Bruce and his talented sous chef, Pia, showcase the delights of South East Asian cuisine, to ‘Tapas Night and Spanish Guitar’, and a recent ‘Basque Supper Club’ exhibiting food from the Basque region. Customers enjoyed the warm, buzzing atmosphere, and delicious food.
While the events are truly unique and versatile, one thing remains constant, they are warm, memorable and overflowing with charm. Rebecca and Bruce’s integrity, and passion for people and good food shines through.
