Summer bus services in the Dales extended

DalesBus 830 at Gunnerside in Swaledale

Sunday DalesBus services into and around the Yorkshire Dales National Park will be increased for the summer season, starting this weekend.

Buses will run mainly hourly throughout the day between Skipton and Malham every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday over the summer from Easter weekend. Following a successful trial last year an increased timetable is again running on Cravenlink services 864 and 866, with buses leaving Skipton Bus Station at 0950, 1050, 1150, 1250, 1450, 1550 and 1650, returning from opposite the Buck Inn in Malham at 1040, 1140, 1240, 1440, 1540, 1640 and 1730.

DalesBus 832 will have a new route through Settle this year. Running on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays the bus will leave Hawes at 1240, and run via Ribblehead, Horton in Ribblesdale, Settle (at 1325), Austwick and Clapham to Ingleton.  The bus will return from Ingleton Community Centre at 1500.

Access from Skipton and Settle to Wensleydale and Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park is improved with the launch of Northern DalesBus 830 from Ribblehead Station to Hawes (for Wensleydale Creamery and Dales Countryside Museum), Muker, Reeth, Grinton and Richmond.  The bus will leave Ribblehead Station at 1048 every Sunday until 19th October, connecting with the train at 0957 from Skipton and 1019 from Settle.  The bus returns from Richmond at 1645, Reeth at 1712, Muker at 1742 and Hawes at 1810, arriving at Ribblehead Station in good time for the 1850 train back to Settle and Skipton.

Wensleydale Explorer Bus 857 will connect with the same trains at Garsdale Station, providing access to Hawes, Askrigg and Castle Bolton every Sunday until 19th October.

The national cap on bus fares applies to all these DalesBus services, so the single fare for any journey is just £3 (£1 for under 19s).

Full details are available online at www.dalesbus.org and in timetable leaflets available from the libraries, visitor information centres and railway stations in Skipton and Settle.
