Skipton Rotary Club confirm their first entries have been received for their fifth annual Dragon Boat Racing regatta to be held on the lake at the Coniston Hotel on Sunday 14 May 2023

Dragon Boat Racing is the world’s fastest-growing water sport and has become very popular with charities; companies and groups of friends alike. As with previous years' successful events, the boats and safety infrastructure are provided by an experienced, professional firm and the venue is the idyllic setting of Coniston Hotel.

Skipton Rotary’s Dragon Boat Racing regattas have seen teams entered by a range of organisations. Many of those have now entered teams in multiple years as they see it as a great way to enhance teamwork and morale across colleagues within their organisation, ever more important with current hybrid working patterns.

The club is now taking entries for the planned 2023 Dragon Boat Racing event.  The event provides local organisations a high-profile opportunity to support the community with the team involved on the day having lots of fun as well as the opportunity to raise money for a charity of your choice.

The minimum team size is 8 paddlers and 1 drummer with a professional helmsman provided to support and steer the team.  If you have more team members who want to have a go on the water, teams can rotate the crew members they use in each race with each team having a minimum of three races on the day.

The information pack available from Andrew Gold at the club also confirms the entry fee per team which represents great value for a fun day of team building activity. There is a lower entry fee for those who book early and places are limited so as the old adage goes ‘book early to avoid disappointment!’

Skipton Rotary’s aim is this event raises significant monies for charity and those teams that entered the 2022 Dragon Boat Racing enabled over £20,000 to be raised for a range of charities as well as it getting fantastic feedback from all those involved on the day.
