Grassington local Charlotte Walsh is set to host a week-long pop up shop at luxury department store John Lewis, after being selected to showcase her sustainable straw business, The Silicone Straw Company.
Taking place for a week from 23 August, the pop up is part of an initiative by The Great British Exchange – which works in partnership with John Lewis & Partners to launch pop store shops for emerging brands across the country.
The reusable straws, which are also vegan and child-friendly, will be available to buy from The Trafford Centre branch of John Lewis in Manchester, which is the second largest shopping centre in the UK with 30 million visitors each year.
Charlotte, founder of The Silicone Straw Company, said of the opportunity: “To host my own pop up shop at John Lewis is a huge opportunity for The Silicone Straw Company, and opens up the brand to a whole new demographic. With the plastic straw ban now in force, and many consumers disliking paper alternatives, we’ve seen a significant increase in sales. I know that John Lewis customers will find my silicone straws useful – whether they’re used for an iced coffee or cordial during the day, or with a gin and tonic in the evening!”
Founded in 2019, The Silicone Straw Company has also recently undergone a packaging refresh, opting for a bright, eye-catching pattern to reflect the brand’s vibrant personality.
Helping to generate a larger sales market through a well-established high street name, The Great British Exchange is a great way for brands to meet new customers and promote independent businesses in a store environment.
