Every Step You Take charity walk in Wensley is looking for entrants

For 7 days starting on Thursday 30 September, there is a great charity event happening in the Dales called ‘Every Step You Take’.

Organisers hope to get walkers (or runners!) to complete as many laps as they want around a 1km track set out in the beautiful The Old Deer Park at Fothering House, on the Bolton Estate (you should visit - or better still one and participate - as it really is a spectacular setting!).

This is an embryonic charity event which, if successful, organisers say they aim to expand.  This year they hope to complete 10,000 kilometers in 7 days and hope to attract sponsorship for every km that a participant completes.

‘No Finish Line’ is a charity event started in Monaco and run annually.  Lady Valerie Bolton is the founder of ‘Every Step You Take’ - she used to live there and has decided to try and bring a similar concept to the UK to support charities.  Clearly, COVID has curtailed a similar mass event in the UK so LAdy Bolton has come up with a concept where they are trialing a local event with the aim to maybe roll it out nationally over the next few years. And it is being trialed here in the Dales!

Two extremely worthwhile charities were selected to be the beneficiaries of this event: Hope and Homes for Children (aiming to eradicate all children’s orphanages around the world: to put children back with their own parents or with a loving family) and YoungMinds (a very worthwhile and topical charity given the events of the past 2 years).

Marcus Browne, the injured Middlesborough player will be at the event on Wednesday, supporting the charities as part of his rehabilitation.

Lady Bolton and the team behind the event are looking for sponsorship beforehand and, during the event from local businesses.

You can support it by getting people out there on their legs getting fit and supporting charity!  Hear more about this great event on Tuesday (28th Sept) in the morning just after 8 am as Julian on Breakfast chats with Lady Valarie Bolton about the event.  Listen to the podcast here where Julian chats with Lady Bolton
