It’s the perfect antidote to 2 years of Covid- laugh-out-loud dialogue and catchy singalong songs.
Settle Musical Theatre are presenting the wonderfully funny Dolly Parton Musical ‘Nine to Five’ at the Victoria Hall Settle from Wednesday 23rd March to Saturday 27th March.
Organiser, Pat Harding says: Over the 10 years or so I’ve been involved with directing Settle Musical Theatre and the Courthouse Kids Theatre we’ve had some wonderful moments. Getting back to rehearsals after the awful 2 years of Covid I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and joy the cast brought to our next production ‘Nine to Five’, which is on at the Victoria Hall this week.
The musical itself, the brainchild of the fantastic Dolly Parton, is mad, bad and laugh-out-loud funny, while the songs are witty and unforgettable. So we’ve had a lot of fun getting it together. Memorable moments from this show have been auditioning some amazing men - all of whom could have carried off the lead parts. They are now happily singing and dancing enthusiastically as part of the male ensemble, while the lucky chap who landed the lead part of Franklin Hart is looking forward to flying high into the rigging! I think our men have missed social interaction and community projects even more than our ladies!
Memorable also was asking our props department to create a dead body. They rose to the occasion - the props department not the dead bodies- by making not one but two. So I’m ever grateful to our amazing team of backstage volunteers alongside the talented singers, dancers and musicians who are looking forward to doing what they enjoy most - entertaining audiences in Settle next week. Hope to see you there.
