Families with children who are due to start in reception or Year 3 at a junior school in September are reminded to apply for a school place by 15 January 2021.
Parents who live in North Yorkshire and have children born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 who are due to start primary school in the 2021-22 academic year need to apply.
Any application received after 15 January will be considered after those received on time. This could affect the allocation of a child’s school place.
“Families should get their child’s application in as soon as possible,” said County Councillor Patrick Mulligan, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Education and Skills. “This academic year more than 95 per cent of parents or carers of primary age children secured their first school preference in North Yorkshire, higher than many other parts of the country. However, if an application is not made on time, families may find it harder to get their child into a school of choice.”
Parents or carers can list up to five schools and rank them in order of preference.
National Offer Day for primary school allocation is 16 April 2021.
