DalesBus timetable changes in May

There will be several changes to bus services in Craven during May.

Firstly, from Saturday 6th May, Craven Connection buses 75 and 580 between Skipton, Gargrave, Malham and Settle will move over to the summer timetable on Saturdays.  As usual, Saturday service 75 from Skipton to Malham will extend via Malham Tarn to Settle for the summer, with buses leaving Skipton at 0945 and 1430, returning from Settle at 1135 and 1555.  There will also be adjustments to service 580 between Skipton and Settle via Hellifield, with the buses at 1145 from Skipton to Settle and 1230 from Settle to Skipton no longer running on Saturdays.

Then, from 7th May, Summer Sunday and Bank Holiday DalesBus service 822 will be reintroduced for the summer season, with an improved service for 2023, linking Grassington and Hebden with Pateley Bridge, Fountains Abbey and Ripon.  A bus will run from Grassington at 1200 (with connecting bus on service 72 from Skipton at 1130) every Sunday and Bank Holiday, returning from Ripon at 1440. This service is provided by East Yorkshire as part of the DalesBus network, and is supported by the National Trust.

Minor changes to improve reliability will be made to Dalesway service 66 between Skipton and Keighley from 21st May.

Weekday services in Wharfedale will be revised from 22nd May, as part of a controversial package of bus service contract changes by North Yorkshire Council.  Services 64 between Skipton and Ilkley and 72 between Skipton and Grassington will both be revised to operate approximately two-hourly throughout the day on Monday to Saturday.  These services will continue to be operated by the Keighley Bus Company.

In order to maintain connections between Skipton and Upper Wharfedale, minibus service 72B operated by the Upper Wharfedale Venturer minibus will also have a revised timetable from the same date, with an increased service operating between Grassington, Kettlewell and Buckden on Monday to Saturday.

Details of these changes will be available online at www.dalesbus.org, and in timetable leaflets from Skipton Library, Skipton Visitor Information Centre and Grassington National Park Centre.

The £2 cap on single bus fares will continue to apply on all local buses until the end of June, as part of a national initiative funded by the Department for Transport.
