Skipton BID and Visit North Yorkshire are joining forces to host a network meeting for businesses at the Skipton Town Hall in February
Visit North Yorkshire is the new destination marketing and management service from North Yorkshire Council. Their role is to support the growth of North Yorkshire’s visitor economy, promote the area and attract visitors across the whole of the year who stay longer.
The work undertaken by Visit North Yorkshire means they can reach new visitors, inspire visitors to return and put North Yorkshire on the national and international map.
On Thursday 6th February, Skipton BID and Visit North Yorkshire are joining forces to host a network meeting for businesses at the Skipton Town Hall.
The aim is to update you on the steps being taken to promote Skipton locally, nationally and internationally and how you and your business can be involved.
Skipton BID will be updating on the Welcome to Skipton brand and platforms and there will also be the opportunity to meet members of the new destination marketing and management service, Visit North Yorkshire.
All tourism businesses, which includes retail, hospitality, accommodation providers and attractions are invited to come along to find out more about how the service is evolving including the forthcoming launch of the new Visit North Yorkshire website on 1st April and how Skipton BID and Visit North Yorkshire can work with you and your business.
The event will take place Thursday 6th February and there will be two opportunities for businesses to drop in. Business can attend between 12:30 - 2pm and 4.30-6pm with scheduled informal mini-presentation overviews at 1pm and 5pm, lasting around 20 minutes.
Businesses are encouraged to drop in at any time throughout these sessions to meet one another over a hot drink, ask questions in an informal environment and share your business aspirations with us.
North Yorkshire Council also invites you to take a look around the Concert Hall and all its venue spaces as well as the Museum, find out more about its work and the latest events and activities planned for this historic venue in the town.
Businesses are welcome to come to whichever session is most convenient for them that day.
North Yorkshire tourism and hospitality businesses are also invited to attend a free marketing workshop between 10am and 12pm on the 6th February. The programme is a collaboration between The Tourism Network (Susan Briggs), the York and North Yorkshire Growth Hub and North Yorkshire Council. It is funded by North Yorkshire Council, as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Any tourism business in Skipton and Craven can attend and learn what makes Skipton distinctive and special and how they can attract visitors year-round. Spaces are limited and must be booked, find out more www.skiptonbid.com/workshops
Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager said “In order for Skipton and North Yorkshire to be a success we need businesses to be involved with both Welcome to Skipton and be part of Visit North Yorkshire. We will then have one strong voice for the county. Combining the Tourism Marketing workshop with the Visit North Yorkshire event means businesses have a great opportunity to understand what opportunities are available and how they can be more involved. We encourage all visitor economy businesses to attend”
