The Station in Richmond is seeking artists wanting to take part in its annual A Spot on the Wall exhibition.
At this exhibition all standards of talent sit side by side, so whether the artist is a first-time exhibitor, or they have been exhibited for years, as a profession or hobby, their work is displayed next to each other on the walls of the old railway building.
Artists pay for a ‘spot’, where they display their work alongside an array of other artists.
As a piece of art is sold from the artist’s spot, they replace it with another piece, and so the exhibition is constantly changing. All artwork in the exhibition can be purchased from The Station Shop.
The exhibition is on from Thursday, December 7 to Wednesday, January 17, giving artists a full six weeks to showcase their work to thousands of visitors over the busy Christmas and New Year period.
Gallery manager Sarah Iveson said: “A Spot on the Wall is a real highlight of the year at The Station Gallery, and is always a wonderful collaboration of artists from across the spectrum of amateur to professional. There is no application process – while spaces last artists are invited to book a ‘spot’ to take part in this special exhibition.”
For hanging work, each artist is able to book up to three spaces. A limited number of cabinets are also available for artists to display ceramics, woodwork, and other artwork. Bookings will are open until the end of October 2023.
