Wensleydale Fryer

All aboard the ‘Wensleydale Fryer’ as their Saturday lunchtime Fish and Chips dining trains return for 2025!

This really is the ideal way to spend your Saturday afternoon. Depart from Leeming Bar to Leyburn! Travel behind a heritage diesel locomotive and experience a scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales whilst enjoying locally supplied fish and chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and unlimited tea or coffee served at your table.

Sit back and relax and enjoy the train journey through spectacular Dales scenery.

Your experience begins at Leeming Bar station at 1.10pm and lasts around two hours. The railway volunteer staff will show you and your guests to your reserved table(s) which are set up for 1 to 4 people (larger tables available) in an open coach. You will be seated in an open coach at your own table, set for 1 to 4 people, and if your party is larger, two tables each side of the centre aisle.  There will  also be bar service available. Once you arrive at Leyburn, you will have time for a short comfort break and to stretch your legs before boarding the train for the return journey to Leeming Bar.

Don’t forget to make time for a free guided tour of Leeming Bar’s lovingly-restored 1920’s station building. It offers a fascinating window into railway history and what life was like in the early 1900s!

 There will also be the option of sausage and chips and gluten free fish (cod) and chips.

Tickets: £35 for adults including lunch and travel and £15 for children (aged 14 and under).

Wheelchair Access: Unfortunately, the vintage coaches do not have for wheelchairs access at this stage. If you have mobility constraints, please let them know at the time of booking and they will do their best to allocate you a table close to the access door.

Dogs: Dogs not allowed (other than assistance dogs) in dining coach.
