A campaign by the residents of Dent and Dentdale to buy the Sun Inn at Dent and make it a community pub.

The residents of Dentdale are hoping to buy their ancient pub, The Sun Inn, and are holding a public meeting on Wednesday to give an update on their progress.
The Sun, first recorded in 1523, is up for sale and they want to secure it as a Community Pub.
The campaigners will be giving an update on their progress in the Haygarth Room of Dent Memorial Hall at 7pm this Wednesday, May 8th.
They are creating a Community Benefit Society and plan on raising money through a share offer as well as applying for a Government grant.
Organiser Andrew Povey said: “The Sun has a special place in our community and is too valuable a community asset to lose which is why we are launching this attempt to buy it.”
The Sun, which is an attraction for summer visitors who enjoy its real fires and stone floors, sits at the centre of the scenic village’s designated Conservation Area, which has a cobbled main street.
The campaign is being backed by other businesses and organisations in Dentdale as well as some outside the dale, including CAMRA.
