Richmondshire Choral Society – Feel the Spirit in St. Mary’s Parish Church, Richmond
The society’s Spring Concert contains two contrasting works of praise composed a hundred years apart.
John Rutter’s Feel the Spirit was inspired by British-Canadian mezzo-soprano Melanie Marshall’s solo interpretations of spirituals, and the vivid and expressive arrangements showcase the rich heritage of the genre, bringing new life to such well loved titles as Steal Away and When the Saints go Marching In.
Verdi’s Four Sacred Pieces represent his last published work and show that even in his eighties Verdi was still capable of composing music of the finest quality. Here in abundance are drama, delicate lyricism, warmth of feeling and religious fervour.
Tickets £20 per person, residents of DL9, DL10 and DL11 £15 per person. Students £3. Accompanied under-18s free.
