A new hardback book has been published which celebrates a Dales family quest to breed the best Swaledale sheep.
The publication has been made possible with funding from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund and has been released by Richmond author and photographer Ian Short.
The book, Seasons on the Hill Farm, is an account of the Calvert family and their multigenerational quest to breed the best Swaledale sheep and is illustrated with original photos taken over the seasons which are a tribute to the remote landscape and the dedication of the farming families who preserve it.
The profits from the sale of this book will be donated to Birkdale and Swaledale charities.
