Elbolton Cave near Grassington had been used for over 5,000 years by humans and animals. First excavated by Reverend E. Jones and members of the Craven Naturalists Society (1889-1891) and then again by Arthur Raistrick and Mary Kitson-Clark (1920), many of the finds are now in Craven Museum.
